A short post on my stance on UFO’s, which is completely unnecessary, I know. UFO’s are one of those conspiracy theories that are both fascinating, yet also rather ridiculous, depending on where you look. My reason for not believing in them (meaning alien spacecraft visiting earth and/or performing miraculous manoeuvres) is the same as every other conspiracy theory or ‘thing’ in general I do not believe in: I don’t see enough credible evidence to do so.
The evidence that has been presented is either laughably bad, or in case of more credible items, have better explanations. Starting with the former, let’s just acknowledge what an absolute shit show the whole New Jersey drone/UAP craze was beginning of this year. If anything it was the perfect showcase for how low the standard of evidence for most people really is. Reddit, Twitter, TikTok and blogs literally filled with out of focus, blurry, often night time videos of people thinking they’re filming a UFO.
Upon closer inspection, virtually all of them turned out to be either out-of-focus stars or regular planes and helicopters. Both are hilarious, as the stories surrounding what people think out-of-focus stars are is astonishing. Complete fabrications about UFO’s, energies, plasma physics, you name it. All on the basis of that person not being able to operate their camera properly.
The plane sightings being posted as UAPs or UFO’s are even dumber, as virtually all of the videos show the object having clear FAA required lighting on them (landing and navigation lights, the red and green blinking lights). You didn’t stop to wonder why a UFO from another solar system, on a what seems to be covert mission, would make itself known by flying normal aircraft navigation lights? Lol.
Other videos can be chalked up to equally mundane things, like cars driving on a mountain in the distance, satellites such as from Starlink flying over, reflections in windows, parallax illusions, or straight up fake videos. It just goes to show that people will take almost anything they cannot explain themselves and declare them UFO’s. The bar for evidence in the public domain is shockingly low. On a side note, it is also pretty amazing how these crazes are geographically contained, and UFO’s seem to have a particular interest in the US over other countries……bummer…
On the professional side (for a lack of a better term), things are definitely more interesting, but nonetheless fail to be convincing. Here we have videos usually shot by military sources, in many cases US military. Items include the most famous examples such as ‘Go fast’, and ‘Gimbal’. But although much more detailed and credible, I have seen no video yet which had no better alternative explanation.
‘Go Fast’ is clearly the result of parallax from the camera moving and the sea in the background, and the object tracked is going much slower then it seems. That was my guess the first time I saw the video. A similar effect is seen in a video of a balloon type object racing through the screen in a daylight video shot in I believe Africa.
‘Gimbal’ is at first sight even more perplexing, but thanks to the work of primarily Mick West, we have an incredibly detailed, reasonable, and likely explanation involving rotating tracking camera pods, combined with bloom or flare on the camera. I really recommend looking up his explanation.
Lastly, we have the topic of ‘disclosure’, which is….well….coming any day now! At least that’s what we have been told now for decades. I don’t really follow this topic that much, but every time I do take a look because someone has promised disclosure, it has been a monumental waste of time. David Grusch’s testimony before congress was sold to me as THE MOMENT we were going to get disclosure, but it turned out to be the same nonsense as ever. Zero evidence, a lot of hearsay, and most things locked up behind ‘black projects’, the favorite scapegoat for if you want to present the absence of evidence as evidence. The same can be said for the ‘Age of Disclosure’ documentary by Luiz Elizondo, launched to much fanfare but ultimately a gigantic dud.
I could go on longer but this is the gist of it. There simply is zero credible evidence, or coherent explanations or arguments that lead me to believe this is wat it is sold as. Is everything easily explainable? No, but having no explanation should lead to the answer “I don’t know” instead of baseless speculation.
